FOR RUN GrOUP / CLUB LEADERS
There are two AO membership options for running groups, crews and clubs:
-
Community Running Groups membership
-
Competitive Athletics Clubs membership
COMMUNITY RUNNING GROUPS
Note: This is a brand new membership category that we have introduced in 2025!
The purpose of this membership category is to offer community running groups (also known as ‘crews’) an official membership category to affiliate with Athletics Ontario.
-
Not only does this membership and affiliated logo offer your group / crew credibility; a variety of government and community grants are available to organizations affiliated with a Provincial Governing Body such as Athletics Ontario.
-
As a registered Athletics Ontario Community Running Group your group will ultimately be listed on our new website (coming in Summer 2025). Additionally, so long as the AO Running Group Safety Guidelines are followed, and all members of your group are AO members, your activities related to running are covered under the Athletics Ontario Insurance Policy.
COMPETITIVE ATHLETICS CLUBS
This membership category is for clubs who wish to compete in road & trail, in addition to sanctioned track & field and / or cross country races. Competitive Athletics Club members may compete at Provincial and National Championships and be named to Provincial and National Teams, whereas Community Running Group members may not.
