Jean-Pierre Mayer

Jean-Pierre, also known as JP, is a distinguished Masters athlete with a strong history in Athletics.

Over the span of many years, JP has exemplified versatility and excellence in various disciplines including sprints, hurdles, high jump, long jump, and the combined events. JP's remarkable journey led him to compete in two World Masters Indoor Championships, earning a silver medal in the Pentathlon at Clermont-Ferrand (France) in 2008 and more recently competing in Torun (Poland) in 2023. In the 1960s, JP proudly represented the Sudbury Legion Track Club, one of the pioneering clubs in the city's athletic scene - and he currently holds a number of Canadian and Ontario Masters indoor and outdoor records in long jump, shot put, discus, triple jump, high jump and the pentathlon.

Beyond his individual accomplishments, JP has generously given back to the sport as a dedicated volunteer high school track and field coach. Currently, as an M75 member of The Throwers Club, JP continues to inspire and contribute to the thriving Masters athletics community.
