Carmen Douma
2018
Carmen, a middle-distance runner with the Guelph Track & Field Club, won the Silver medal in the 1500m at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Budapest, Hungary. At the 2008 Olympics, she made it to the Finals of the 1500m where she placed 9th in the 1500m.
At the 2004 World Cross Country Championships in Brussels, Belgium, Carmen turned in one of her best races where she placed 17th, which helped the Canadian women’s team earn a bronze medal in the short course race.
She also had a prolific NCAA career. She was a nine-time All-American and 3x NCAA champion during her studies at Villanova University. She won the NCAA indoor title in the mile in 1998, the outdoor title over 1500m and another indoor mile title in 2000.
