A three-time Olympic jumps coach, Carl represented Canada at the Seoul, Barcelona, and Sydney Olympic games. Carl was Team Canada’s head coach for the World University Games in 1989, 1993, and 1999 and Jumps coach at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland and the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo.
Carl was Athletics Canada’s National Co-ordinator for Jumps when the University of Toronto was a designated National High-Performance Centre. Major meets that have developed under Carl’s leadership – Kidd-Crothers Invitational, Festival of Excellence with Usain Bolt, and 3 annual indoor meets (Sharon Anderson, Fred Foot and Hal Brown), 2009 and 2010 Canadian Senior T & F Championships, 2009 & 2015 OFSAA. Lastly, he was CIS Women’s Track & Field Coach of the Year: 2016-17, 2015-16, 2014-15, 2005-06, 1997-98, 1996-97
