
Mike Charrar's career as a master's athlete has left an indelible mark on the track and field world. Known for his remarkable speed and endurance, Mike has been a dominant force in middle distance running on the international master's stage.
At the World Masters Athletics Championships, Mike showcased his exceptional talent by securing two gold medals in the M45 800 meters, first in Lottie, Finland in 2009 and then in Sacramento, California in 2011. His impressive collection of 10 silver and five bronze medals highlights his consistent excellence and commitment to the sport. Mike's accomplishments extend beyond his world championship success. He holds numerous Canadian records across various age groups, indoors and outdoors. Notably,
he was a member of the team that set the M54 by 800 meters belay world record, cementing his legacy as one of Canada's premier master's athletes.
Although he recently retired from competition due to a chronic injury, his influence and impact on the sport will continue. In addition to his athletics achievements, Mike has also made significant contributions to the sport off the track, serving on the board of Athletics Canada and using his experience and expertise to help shape the future of athletics in the country.
