
Jessica Zelinka is a two-time Olympian who competed in both the heptathlon and the open 100m hurdles. Prior to her Olympic debut, Zelinka was a gold medalist, in the heptathlon, at the 2007 Pan American games scoring 6,343 points and setting a Canadian record.
At the Beijing Olympics in 2008, she earned a fourth-place finish with 6,490, breaking her own Canadian record. She followed that up with a silver medal in the heptathlon at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
While competing in Calgary, Alberta at the Canadian National Championship and Olympic Track and Field Trials in 2012, Zelinka not only set a career-best of 6,599 points but broke the Canadian Record for the third straight time and punched herself a ticket to the Olympic Games in London.
Differing from 2008, Zelinka competed in two events at the London 2012 Olympics where she finished fifth overall in the women’s heptathlon and sixth overall in the 100m hurdles. Before retiring, she claimed one last silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
