Nicole represented Canada at every major international competition from the Francophone Games to the Olympics, however it was her appearances at the Commonwealth Games where she achieved the greatest success.
A native of Burlington (Ontario, Canada), Nicole competed for the University of Michigan, and while a student, made her international debut at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, finishing sixth in the high jump. One year later, she finished third in both the 1999 NCAA indoor and outdoor championships before earning bronze at the 1999 Pan Am Games in Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada) wearing the Canadian vest.
Nicole won gold in high jump at the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi (India), eight years after reaching the podium with her bronze medal performance at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester (England). She also represented Canada at the 2001 World University Games in Beijing (China), where she collected a silver medal. Nicole also represented Canada at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing (China). In addition, she was honoured with selection to the Americas team for the 2006 World Cup of Athletics in Athens (Greece), where she finished fifth.
In addition to winning eight Canadian championships, Nicole set a personal best of 1.97m in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2007; only Debbie Brill’s national record of 1.99m is superior among Canadian women high jumpers.
