As a long-time official in Ontario, and a throws official at the national level, Mike was the expert that so many sought out whenever there were questions on rules and procedures.
A mathematics teacher at Kenner Collegiate in Peterborough (Ontario, Canada) technical events were a natural segue for Mike, who was one of the early specialists in Ontario as a photo finish official and technical manager – and was able to combine this with a passion and dedication to truly become the guru of technical services in the province and the country.
While a Director on the OTFA (now Athletics Ontario) Board, he worked in many committees such as the Policies and By Law Committee and chaired the Technical Committee. Mike also officiated various major competitions including, but not limited to, the 1993 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Toronto (Ontario, Canada), the 2001 IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Edmonton (Alberta, Canada), the 2009 Canada Games in Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island, Canada), and the 2010 IAAF World Juniors in Moncton (New Brunswick, Canada).
