So Where Does My Membership Fee Go? |
|
When you pay a membership fee to Athletics Ontario, we do a lot of stuff to improve the quality of the experience for our members. This is just some of what your money does; our budget for this year calls on us to spend:
-
$4,000 to help support Twilight and Allcomers meets, and another $2,000 to help athletes attend those competitions
-
$19,000 to cover insurance fees to help keep our sport and members safe
-
over $38,000 to produce and provide all AO members with Athletics Magazine on the internet
-
over $9,000 to help eligible AO clubs with the cost of sending coaches and athletes to our National junior and senior championships
-
$2,800 in athlete recruitment and retention
-
$7,000 promoting enhanced participation in remote areas of the province
-
$17,000 to support our provincial teams
-
$4,000 to plan and compensate volunteer officials with travel to competitions and feed them
-
$2,000 in support of Masters athletics in the province
-
$4,500 to help clubs host major track and field competitions
-
$1,600 to help clubs stage spring training camps
-
$3,520 on planning and communicating with our members
-
$8,000 to help our Ontario athletes compete in International Competitions
-
$3,000 in support of roadracing
-
$10,000 to rent competition facilities
-
$45,000 on administrative expenses to run the Association
-
$8,000 to support our AO team coaches
-
$2,500 on new coaching/training software and equipment
-
$4,000 on a new Eastern Canadian series of meets for our Espoir athletes
- $4,200 on clinics and upgrading for our coaches and officials
-
$1,500 for the Step-Up to Excellence program |
|
In addition: AO reduces the amount of work our volunteers do by handling such things as government grant applications, membership services, records and rankings, sanctioning, risk-management, insurance administration, technical consulting, government lobbying, liaising with Athletics Canada and provincial bodies, communications, website updates, program development, championship administration, and accounting. Our administrative salaries and benefits total $220,000 for a staff of three full time, and three part time employees. |

In 2005 AO, with financial assistance from the Trillium Foundation, will continue to advance and promote Fun In Athletics, a grassroots program aimed at getting kids involved in track and field at a young age. This year AO will spend $47,000 on Fun in Athletics. | |
Athletics Ontario thanks you for your support.
