St. Lawrence College Cross County Invitational in Brockville dominated by Fanshawe College.

Runners from Fanshawe College dominated both the men's and women's races at the SLC Cross Country Invitational hosted on the Brockville campus of St. Lawrence College on the weekend.

In the Men's race, John Mason and Biement Yemane of Fanshawe finished first and second respectively. Third place was taken by St. Lawrence College Kingston runner, Julian Rhebergen. Jonathan Redfearn from Mohawk College was fourth.

The top three finishers in the Women's race was a sweep by Fanshawe athletes. Becky Pieterson took first place followed by her teammates Liliane Sparkes in second place and Erika Houde-Pierce who finished third. Richelle Moore from St. Lawrence College Kingston placed fourth as the top SLC women's competitor on the day.

From a team perspective Fanshawe College was the overall winner in both the men's and women's completion. St. Lawrence College Kingston placed second in team standings for both the men's and women's races while Mohawk College took third in the men's and Redeemer College took third in the women's team results.

The weather was not a factor in the outcomes of the day. The course was dry and firm and the pleasant temperatures were welcomed by all participants.

Next year the SLC Cross Country Invitational will shift to the SLC Cornwall Campus in a move by St. Lawrence College Athletics to annually retain the same weekend for this race but rotate the venue amongst the three St. Lawrence College campuses. �The date for the next SLC Cross Country Invitational is September 18, 2010.
