Minutes of the Board of Directors Conference Call

November 29, 2000

Action items from the meeting.

Present: John Craig, Cecil Smith, Earl Farrell (Chair), Denis Landry, Roman Olszewski, Albert Tschirhart, Gary Crossley, Dennis Fairall

1.Officials Council Request for Championship revenue: Dennis Fairall advised that he had received a request from the Ontario Officials Council that $1.00 from the levy of each entry at an Ontario Championship be given to the Officials Council to help them with travel to national championship competition. Such travel is essential to upgrading.

Motion: That effective January 1, 2001, $1.00 of the levy of every entry to an OTFA Championship be given to the Ontario Officials Council.

2. Track League: the OTFA will try to 're-invent' the Summer League program in Ontario in 2001, making funds available in different regions. Board members will help get things rolling across the province, and Dennis Fairall has volunteered to sit on a sub-committee to deal with the league. Suggestions for additional volunteers include Colin Inglis and Dick Moss in the north. There will not likely be time or a place for a championship in the summer of 2001, but a championship could take place after the League meets in the summer of 2002. Possible formats include the use of IAAF tables and Mail-in Competitions.

3. Board Minutes will now be posted on the Internet as part of our web page. Actions only will be posted.

4. Supermeet: Roman, John, Andy McInnis and Enrico will try to meet in the near future to iron out a contract between the HOC (Ottawa Lions) and the OTFA. Andy McInnis will be acting as the meet director for the Supermeet 2001. A tentative schedule will also be determined at that meeting.

5. Bantam Memberships: concern has been expressed over the position of the 'Free Bantam' membership in light of the coaching fee. The Board agreed that any bantam applying for membership in the OTFA using the 'Free Membership Coupon' will NOT have to pay the Coaching Fee for the year in which that membership stands.

6. 2001 Cross Country Championships: Roman will provide a Bid Package for the next OTFA newsletter asking for bids to host the 2001 Cross Country Championships. A bid has already been received from the Toronto Olympic Club. The financial terms of the contract will depend on OTFA's involvement with regard to entries and results etc.

7. Adjournment: 8:59 p.m.
