HALL OF FAME (HOF)

Athletics Ontario is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the first induction ceremony into the "Athletics Ontario Hall of Fame" on December 5, 2009. This event will be held in conjunction with the Annual Awards Banquet, "Celebrating Excellence in Athletics".

Athletics Ontario wishes to recognize past outstanding achievements and contributions to athletics (track and field, road running, cross country and race walking) in Ontario. These contributions are not limited to athletic achievements, but may also represent dedication in the areas of coaching, officiating, or builders of the sport. Our sport has been blessed with countless people who have dedicated much of their time, energy, expertise and athleticism to help make it what it is today. Many children look up to these people as role models, sources of inspiration, teachers, mentors, friends and competitors.

In order for the memories of these individuals to live on, it is important that they are honoured, and recognized for their accomplishments. To truly capture the essence and the history of our sport it is imperative that members of the Athletic Ontario community nominate individuals that represent the categories outlined. In this inaugural year, there will be 15 inductees, 5 of whom will be from the pre-1929 period.
