Roman Olszewski, Director of Technical Services

Employment: 1979 to present
Personal Athletic History: Competed in 800m and 400m hurdles as junior, then switched to walking events. During 70's competed for Canada in several dual and tri meets versus USA and Mexico. Coached hurdles with the Etobicoke Huskies-Striders during the 80's. Manager of the Canadian World Cup Walks Team that competed in Bergen, Norway in 1983.
Administrative Experience: Meet Director 2006 Indoor OTFA Combined Events Championships and Allcomers; author of OTFA Step-Up to Excellence program; Columnist for Athletics magazine since 1979. Served on many national and provincial committees. Currently, volunteer coach with Niagara Regional Athletics club, assisting with walking events.

John Craig, Managing Director

 Five time national champion in middle distances; former Canadian record holder over 1,000m indoors; member of Canada's 1978 Commonwealth Games Team; 1979 Pan Am Team; 1980 Olympic Team; 1981 World Cup Team
Job Related Experience: Race Director for Toronto Marathon 1985-1995; Editor of Athletics Magazine 1997 to present; member of More for Sport Committee.

Anthony Biggar, Manager of Communications & Public Relations

Employment: May 2006 to present

Personal Athletic History: Anthony was a member of Canada's Espoir Team and member of relay team that held the Canadian outdoor record for 4X800m (until 2003). He was an All-Canadian for the Universtiy of Toronto, won 7 medals at the CIS Championships, and was the OTFA Indoor 800m Champion.
Administrative Experience: Anthony helps in the office with administrative tasks and is involved in program planning and execution. He spent 15 years in the not-for-profit sector for recreation and sport-based agencies, and was the Event Coordinator and Program Leader for the TD-YMCA Corporate Challenge in Toronto and the Vancouver YMCA Fun Run in 1999-2000.   He has also been a track coach at North Toronto C.I. He was the Meet Director for the 2007 and 2008 OTFA Combined Events Championships & Prep Meet #1 as well as the 2008 Asian Community Games. Anthony has also completed the "Training" portion of the NCCP Sport Coach and Club Coach (Sprints/Hurdles/Relays) Courses,  the Run, Jump, Throw Instructor course and the Level 2 Distance Course.

Wendy Lee, Bookkeeper and Registration Manager

Employment: 1979 to present
Job-related Experience: With AOfor 27 years, Wendy brings a wealth of knowledge to the job. She has managed our accounts through years of changing funding structures, and has dealt with new technologies on an ongoing basis. She will be instrumental in handling the new on-line registration system.

Bernie Eckler, Advertising and Special Projects

Employment: 1990 to present

Personal Athletic History: 
Completed 5 marathons and lots of 5 and 10km events. Currently competes in Masters Olympic Weightlifting and previously competed in Powerlifting.

Hazel North, Editorial Assistant for Athletics Magazine

Employment: 1981 to present
Administrative Experience: Hazel worked as an Administrative Assistant for the OTFA from 1981 until 2006. During that time she was responsible for administrative duties and communications, and she was the editorial assistant for Athletics Magazine. She will continue to be charged with inputing all editorial content for Athletics Magazine.

Cecil Smith, Founder and Managing Director of Athletics Magazine

Employment: 1976 to present
Job Related Experience: CEO of Ontario Track and Field Association:
from inception in1976 until 2002. Meet Director: Hamilton Spectator Indoor Games.Founding Member: British Miler's Club. Author: Perhaps the most respected historian and track and field writer in the country today, Cecil has been contributing to Athletics Magazine for 30 years. His popular column "Inside Track" is a feature of the magazine's success. He has also covered Olympic Games and World Championships with insight, humour and a great regard for truth.

 

Michael Brennan, Membership Program Director

Michael has recently accepted a new position as the "Membership Program Director" at AO, which will run until May 2010. Michael has recently developed and implemented a marketing and distribution program for the Canada Running Series in addition to serving as the Event Manager for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Michael has also recently been the Race Director for the Mississauga Marathon and 5 of the "5 Peaks Trail Run Series" and is the founder and co-owner of Marathon Dynamics Inc. Michael will pilot, market and direct a new membership program for Athletics Ontario and can also be reached at roadwarrior1@sympatico.ca

Sue Wise, High Performance Coordinator

Sue will develop and deliver athlete talent detection, identification and performance profiling initiatives amongst other responsibilities. Sue brings many qualifications to her new position. She has been a coach with the Commonwealth Games Team, the World Cup Trials, the World Student Games and the Francophone Games. She has also been a Mentor Coach for Athletics Ontario, and she has taught track and field and coached at the University level for over 25 years.

Randolph Fajardo, Sport Administrator

Randolph will be working with Athletics Ontario on various projects including the administration of the Ontario Summer Games. His term will end with us following the Ontario Junior and Senior Championships in Sudbury on August 14-15. Randolph is a psychology student at York University and a member of the varsity track and field team. He is part of the 4x200m relay team that holds the OUA record at 1:26.60.  As a York lion he was a 6 time OUA all-star and a 2 time CIS All-Canadian. Randolph has been an active outdoor sprinter as well with peronal bests of 10.77 in the 100m and 22.07 in the 200m.

Alyssa Giuliani, Sport Administrator

Alyssa will be working with Athletics Ontario on various projects including the administration of the Ontario Summer Games. Her term with Athletics Ontario will conclude July 23, 2010. Alyssa is currently entering her last year of business studies at Western. She has also been a member of the Toronto Olympic Club since 2003. She is a former member of the cross-country and track teams at UWO.
